Sex and the City 2

Anyone who know me knows that I am a huge fan of Sex and the City. I love the entire series, and though I was skeptical when the first movie came out (I thought the series finale was perfect and I was afraid they would screw that up) I really liked it and was happy with the way it ended. It was my prayer after seeing the movie that the creators would close shop and leave well enough alone. But, any time there is a chance to make money, they will beat the horse long after it is dead. So we have another Sex and the City movie.

Warning, the rest of this post may contain spoilers, so stop reading if you still have not seen the movie and would like to remain unspoiled.

Even though I was, again, skeptical, I was thrilled to be invited to a SATC premiere viewing and party in Fort Worth. It was really fun to get dressed up and hang out with some really great girls. My overall take on the movie is that I was disappointed, and that left me feeling blue, but I decided I am going to celebrate the beautiful scenery and exquisite fashion that was eye candy to this long time fan. One thing they never EVER get wrong is the fashion. No matter how over the top or even silly it may seem to the layperson, the girls of SATC are the most fashion-forward girls in all of movieland. And they do reside in the capital of fashion, so the over the top fashion is quite appropriate.

Here are some of my favorite fashions from the movie:

One of the first scenes in the move featuring the girls together, we get to see a sort of overview of their fashion sense. Samantha, ever the sex kitten, is showing some skin, while Miranda is perfectly adorned in her lawyer/mom/'I'm so sensible' attire and Carrie is the casually put together fashionista. And Charlotte......oh how I love thee! Anyone who knows me knows I am a Charlotte at heart. I love how she is head to toe pink (my favorite color!) so that even the soles of her cute little pumps match her dress and bag. Perfect! Charlotte is, and always has been, my favorite of the girls because I relate to her in so many ways. Have you ever taken one of those 'Girls of SATC' quizzes to see which girl is your match? I have and guess what? Charlotte.

Here is a shot of the girls shortly after they arrive to their middle eastern vacation destination. Just a few friends on a girls' trip. Hee hee.

Ok, so this is not so much a fashion shot, but I absolutely adore SJP's hair up like this. I think it makes her look so elegant.

Back in New York (I know these pics are not in chronological order) I have to comment further on Miranda's dress. I just love how the color is not only beautiful on its own, but it is perfect for her skin tone and hair color. We saw quite a few belts in the first movie, and apparently they are still relevant because we see them again here, two years later. And like I said before, the creators (and namely Patricia Fields) never get it wrong.

Back in Abu Dhabi, and to the market! I wish I could have found some more shots from the market scenes because they were truly delightful to watch. The rich color and all the fun textures in the vendor booths made me want to shop there! If I were to ever take a trip to an exotic location such as Abu Dhabi, I would certainly hunt down the local market and spend quite a bit of my time there. I have a sneaking suspicion I would end up carrying a few bags out at the end of the day!

I love the simple tee paired with the flowing skirt. Perfect!

New York again. Sorry to be all over the place but there is a method to my madness, though it may only be obvious to me! Again, I must comment on the color of this dress. I am loving this shade of blue/teal/turquoise (what is it really? I'm not sure.) right now and it looks great on Samantha/Kim. And really, who do you know that can carry off those huge earrings and not look ridiculous? Only Samantha.

Charlotte in pink again. I love this corset/skirt combo.

Only Charlotte would bake cupcakes in vintage Valentino. And with a precious cupcake apron! Love it. More pink, of course.

Here we are with a cameo appearance by Miley Cyrus, which was actually a funny little scene about Samantha's "young" fashion sense, and her refusal to dress her age. Very cute, and I have to say.....I think Kim carries it off more successfully than her counterpart.

And this......well, this is the moment that flashed in the trailer, followed by a teary phone call to Big, that had me so reluctant to get excited about this movie. I was just sure that after running into Aiden, Carrie would make a huge mistake with him and damage or ruin her relationship with Big. If that had happened, I would have totally written this movie off. But, rest easy, though there was a dramatic situation it was not a game-changer, and for that I am thankful.

This scene between Charlotte and Miranda was my favorite scene because of how real it was. I will not spoil the scene for you, as it is one of the highlights of this movie. Let's just say Miranda is allowing Charlotte to have a mommy moment. For me, this scene brought the viewer back to what the show is about, and what it has always been about, and that is the relationships between these four women.

As Samantha puts it later in the movie, "Men, babies, doesn't matter......we're soulmates."

And on a final note........

What girl wouldn't want to find THAT on her couch when she returns home from a day of shopping?
